RMS Measuring in Alberta
ATTENTION: All Alberta Sellers - There is a Measurements Requirement for all
Alberta MLS® System Listings.
The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) has implemented this policy.
All Alberta MLS® System listings must include detailed measurements. Typically it is the full service real estate agent who is obtaining the room measurements for the sellers. Since you are not using a full service real estate agent to list your property, you will need to provide them to us, along with the rest of the listing information we need to list your property on the MLS® System properly.
You have a couple of options for obtaining an RMS report when you list your property with For Sale By Owner Inc.
Using our provided RMS tools, each customer can complete the DIY RMS report and schematic drawing themselves from start to finish, or they can have a professional come and do it all for them instead.
We provide each seller with a 100% self-serve option for completing the measurements on their own if they would like to do the measurements themselves. We even have a hybrid model that allows you to do some of the RMS steps yourself, while leaving the sketching part to the professionals we have aligned with, to offer a more seamless service to our customers.

We have put together this page to help our customers better understand what their options are as it relates to providing the RMS measurements for their MLS® System listing that are compliant with RECA's standards.
Each seller is welcome to use whichever measurements professional they want, as long as they meet the RECA requirements we need for our compliance with them. You can also view the RECA FAQ for more information.
